Training in November
After our HOOCH regatta the team returned to training on the IntraCoastal. The entire team trains still together in bigger boats so that our new members have the chance to learn from our experience athletes.
Training shifts in these winter months from water to more often to our Clubhouse where the athletes learn:
the basics of weightlifting,
what it means to be a long time on the erg without being bored
spending time (up to three hours) without the phone in their hands
Shai and Elton learning the 2x

Regatta NBP
Returning to racing at NBP. In the past weeks the girls from our team progressed a lot. No training was missed, excuses became real excuses, and the fitness level of our girls’ team grew stroke by stroke. The NBP regatta was the right treat for our JF U17 team to shine and participate.
With being 14, 14, 15 and 16 years old our team was the youngest of the event but nevertheless with a motivation of hungry lion they attacked the day of racing.
The long-distance course at NBP is a challenge for first time participants. While rowing normally from the south to the north down the course - the start is at the warm-up lane and the boats will enter in a curve from the finish-line into the racecourse. Our girls mastered this challenge reasonable :-)
Finishing fifth out of seven and just one minute behind 2nd place we can be really proud of our four girls. Parabens

Giving Tuesday
November 28 and February (in 2024) are days in which our members, Alumni and friends of the Scullers have the chance to support our team. This year our goal was to collect about 5000$ for our team during the GivingTuesday and we could not only collect the amount we exceeded that goal.
The Scullers want to say THANK YOU to all of our donors for this amazing drive and we will continue our work to bring the best out of our team
If you did not had the chance to donate … here is the LINK to still support
Introducing two of our newest members
Matej joined us a few weeks ago and he is already crazy to show his talent. Matej was born in Caracas Venezuela on February 24th 2008. He is the older of two in his family and one day he would like to visit New York (you will trust us :-) )
Being from Venezuela snow is not his first experience but in one of his holidays he already saw snow but did not build a snowman. He listens to Foster The People but as the favorite Christmas song he chose ITS BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT LIKE CHRISTMAS and is a big fan of Ryan Gosling. “Oppenheimer” was his last movie in the cinema (now followed by THE BOYS IN THE BOAT).
His only Christmas wish is: GOOD FOR MY FAMILY
Matej
Anise joined last years summer camp with her brother Sage and now became a fulltime athlete of our team - Thank you.
Born in 2010 (Sep 6th) in Miami she is one of our rare Floridians of our team. On TV she like to see football (so soccer for our American reader), but at night she dives into her books, right now TWIGHTLIGHT BREAKING DAWN. Asking her what museum she visited last - the Smithsonian in DC her quick answer.
Now in wintertime we wanted to know if she saw ever snow, yes, she did but no … never build a snowman. The Christmas tradition is having food with potatoes (her older brother Sage insisted to say it - so we know his favorite food now).
She has no specific sport hero but with comics the BLACK WIDOW is her favorite star. Last we wanted to know what city she would like to visit most and after clarifing it is not in Florida … Venice is where she wants to go one day.
Anise
